Supporting children with autism to build self-confidence through surfing

Ocean Heroes provides a safe and inclusive environment for people on the autism spectrum to develop confidence and connect with others. Providing free events and surf experiences across the state, Ocean Heroes supports up to 400 participants.

Thanks to the people who play Lotterywest games, we provided a grant of $11,199 to support full-length steamer wetsuits to ensure sessions continue throughout the colder months, and life jackets to keep everyone feeling confident and comfortable. It has also helped Ocean Heroes expand the number of events this year from just eight in 2018 to 34 across our WA beaches.
